Museum Meeting Room
Emanuel Albrecht is a long time Hutchinson native, who’s art reflects not only his experiences and history, but the history of an entire community. Every carving in Emanuel’s extensive collection seems to have some tie to Hutchinson and its people. Spanning nearly a century himself, Mr. Albrecht has lived and seen many changes in the town of Hutchinson, Minnesota.
The Museum was first approached by a golfing friend of Emanuel’s about his carvings. After a short visit and tour of Mr. Albrecht’s office, which acts as a private gallery, Emanuel was interested in the idea of donating some pieces to the Museum’s collection.
By far, the "Wood Carver’s Saga" best fits into the historical art mix that the McLeod County Museum seems to encompass. With the Les Kouba Wildlife art gallery located just next door, the series "A Wood Carver’s Saga", a collection of bas relief carvings, part art, part history will make a wonderful edition and fit right in to our collections.
The Museum will mount the carvings, in narrative order, around the three walls of the meeting room area. Each carving will have a narrative that will guide you through the life story of "La Falda Roja", the story of a pioneer woman. Emanuel Albrecht, along with the McLeod County Historical Museum hope you will join us for an afternoon of art and history as we present, "A Wood Carver’s Saga" - Story of a Pioneer Woman.
