Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) remains in the forefront of societal challenges to be addressed. Data has proven that the more diverse the organization is, the more innovative and successful they are. Attend this VIRTUAL event to obtain information and strategies on diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. The success of any business depends on hiring the right people. With the current worker shortage, engaging and retaining all available workers is key. Learn what it means to be an inclusive employer—receive tips and resources on how to start, become, or advance your skills as an inclusive employer. Presenter: Ellen Wolter, University of Minnesota Extension Wolter joined the Center for Community Vitality in October 2021 as an Extension educator for leadership and civic engagement. Before joining Extension, she worked for Wilder Research where she collaborated with Minnesota organizations, particularly in greater Minnesota, to identify community-level trends to better understand and address challenges facing local communities. An informative employer training on engaging employees of Somali descent will provide ways to engage this population of potential workers. Central Minnesota’s Inclusive Workforce Employer Designation Program will reduce disparities and raise awareness of diversity, inclusion, value, and equity in the workplace by obtaining a designation that recognizes participating employers.
