As we near the end of 2012 and our focus on the 150th Anniversary of the Conflict of 1862, the Museum has teamed up with The Coffee Company to bring to you an afternoon of theatrical history and delicious delights! Larry Macht, long time interpreter at Historic Murphy’s Landing in Shakopee, MN, will take on a new role. Larry will be playing Thomas Scantlebury, who on August 14th, along with a wagon load of boys, were on their way to Henderson to enlist to fight in the Civil War. Being newly enlisted, but still needing to help his family bring in the yet to be harvested 1862 crop, Thomas was granted a furlough until August 26th. But little did Thomas know that in just a few days, War would come to him and the surrounding area!
Viola was born to Nels and Minnie Christiansen on August 31st, 1915, on a farm in Merrifield, MN. She was the youngest of five with the chore of cooking in the kitchen. As a wife to Frank Pikula and a mother and later Grandmother, Grandma Vi’s baking became a family legacy. This legacy was the inspiration for Grandma Vi’s Pies!
Now you can taste the history of these special family recipes that have been handed down through the generations.
So we hope you will join us for an afternoon of sweet History. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Museum. There are a limited number of seats, so get your tickets early!
