Horticuluture Day
Everyone attending will receive a FREE bag of CreekSide potting soil!
*The event will include a "Birdhouses for Birchwood" Silent Auction Fundraiser featuring backyard birding themed items. Proceeds from the auction will be used to help fund landscape improvements at beautiful Birchwood, the Mary Burich ConnectCare Hospice House in Hutchinson. One special feature of the auction is a rustic hand-crafted, weathered pine and cedar wood ornamental bird house that measures 22' tall x 22' wide x 18' wide. The birdhouse will be on display at the McLeod County Extension Office (Fairgrounds) prior to the event.
Four great speakers (including two local talents) will be presenting on timely topics including: "The Medicinal Wonders of Local Plants", "Landscaping with Native Plants", "Vegetable Garden Primer", and "Landscaping with Ornamental Grasses". Attendees will also enjoy a fun planting project, a wonderful lunch, many prizes, drawings, educational handouts, etc. Also, fun/educational displays will be provided by Connie Karstens ("Health by Connie"/The Lamb Shoppe); Jim Rorah (owner of Wild Bird Specialties); tree care and gardening education, etc.
