RESCHEDULED ~ ''Dakota Uprising, Pictorial History'' Program

 

Curtis Dahlin, author of his first Dakota Conflict book, "Dakota Uprising Victims-Gravestones and Stories" has been doing research on the Dakota Conflict of 1862 for over ten years. He has visited countless county historical societies and local Minnesota historical socities to bring a real and personal face to this horrific chapter in our State’s history.

"This idea for this book," explains Dahlin, "is based on historic period photographs originated at a meeting of the Minnesota Historical Society Photo Collections Group in May of 2002. I suggested to the Group that we do a pictorial history of the Dakota Uprising since a significant number of period photographs still exist. Although it was originally envisioned to be a group project, it became my project since the other members of the Group were working full time and did not have time to devote to it."

This book, which includes biographies of photographers by Alan R. Woolworth, gives the reader the opportunity to view the Uprising through actual photos of the people and places who experienced it.
