The second annual Tri-County Winter Webinar Series will be held on Tuesday afternoons from September to December, allowing gardeners to learn from experts during the day. This informative series will feature expert speakers covering a range of gardening and landscape topics, perfect for the beginner gardener or homeowner. Session information: This presentation covers the design and function of rain gardens, including how they manage stormwater runoff, improve water quality, and support native biodiversity. It provides guidance on site selection, soil preparation, plant choice, and long-term maintenance for successful rain garden installation. Tarah Young is the University of Minnesota Extension Educator for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Hubbard County. She also coordinates the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers in Hubbard County. Tarah has a B.S in Agronomy and a M.S. in Applied Plant Science from the University of Minnesota. She aims to empower audiences to cultivate their own food while being mindful of environmental stewardship.
