Tri-County Winter Webinar Series: Growing, storing, and enjoying dahlias

The second annual Tri-County Winter Webinar Series will be held on Tuesday afternoons from September to December, allowing gardeners to learn from experts during the day. This informative series will feature expert speakers covering a range of gardening and landscape topics, perfect for the beginner gardener or homeowner. Session information: Dahlias can add a lot of color and texture to the Minnesota garden. In this session, we’ll talk about how to successfully grow gorgeous dahlias and how to store the tubers in winter, including a new method used by growers. We’ll also look at examples of the many different classes of dahlias, from small, bushy varieties to magnificent dinner plate cultivars. Jackie Burkey, has been a UMN Extension Master Gardener - Crow Wing County, since 2007, her first year back in Minnesota after spending 28 years in Central Texas. She has served on the Brainerd Park and Recreation Board, edits the weekly Ask A Master Gardener column in the Brainerd Dispatch, and was president of the Brainerd Garden Club for 16 years! Jackie plants the flowers in Gregory Park, maintains her own edible landscape and worm-composting bins, and stays busy with way too many other hobbies and volunteer projects.
