The Ridgewater College Helping Hands Club invites families, educators and the general public to Walk for Autism at the Hutchinson Mall from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon to help build local awareness about Autism, a topic that has been in the news a great deal in the last few years. The walk will be indoors.
Currently, the chance of someone being diagnosed with Autism is one in 88, according to Educational Assistant Instructor Angeline Kallhoff. In conjunction to the walk, the Helping Hands Club will host a silent auction to raise funds to purchase family resources for the community. The auction will run from 9:00 to 11:45 a.m. Winners must be present to claim auction prizes announced at Noon.
The day will also include fun activities for youngsters.
Participants are encouraged to wear blue in support of autism awareness. People who prefer not to walk but would like to support the cause are welcome to make donations, which will also support the purchase of more family resources.
The Helping Hands Club is a part of the Ridgewater Early Childhood Education, Educational Assistant, Activity Director, and Universal Care programs.
