Philosophy and Overview of Preschool Teaching Assistant Position
We are seeking a full-time Preschool Teaching Assistant to begin mid-May 2027. This person must be at least 18 years of age and meet the state of Minnesota Department of Education experience and education requirements. This person is responsible to work in a team environment with a preschool teacher to deliver educational curriculum designed to nurture the social, physical, intellectual and spiritual development of 3-5-year-old students throughout the school year and summer sessions. The teaching assistant role includes helping with programming, support, fundraising, and summer school programs.
King’s Kids Preschool
King’s Kids Christian Preschool (King’s Kids) is an award-winning school providing school-readiness instruction for the past 35 years within a Christian education program at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Classes are Monday through Friday for both morning and afternoon sessions throughout the school year with summer sessions for two weeks in July. King’s Kids serves 112 students and is open to children from both the congregation and the community.
Preschool Ministry
King’s Kids Christian Preschool is a valued part of Christ the King’s established ministry that is funded by both the church and enrolled preschool families with additional support from community members/sponsors. The Preschool Teacher Assistant works with a team of adults to provide both relational and program ministry including:
- Intellectual development
- Spiritual development
- Social development
- Physical development
- Psychological development
- Opportunities for Christian learning of Jesus Christ.
- Opportunities and activities to help children develop healthy self-concepts.
- Experiences and activities that fulfill a child’s basic needs.
- Learning which broadens a child’s aptitude for future schoolwork with activities in motor perception, math, science, religion, social studies and art.
Schedule: Working hours for this position average 35 hours/week from September – May and 21 hours/week from May – September. Typical hours during the school year are 8:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., plus evenings for conferences, fundraisers and graduation programs; Sunday mornings for King’s Kids special days; and summer sessions in July.
