Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Product Engineer with a combination of technical expertise, analytical abilities, and interpersonal skills. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all products we create meet the requirements for form, fit and function, while also producing approval and shop drawings using software tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
The Details
- Analyze architectural specifications and details to create drawings for client submissions.
- Develop precise approval drawings and details utilizing a value engineering approach.
- Assess and select materials while producing drawings that ensure proper form, fit, and function for manufacturing and installation.
- Identify, recommend, and address necessary changes to guarantee products are delivered and installed as planned.
- Design purchased part commodity drawings for uniquely manufactured components.
- Manage and update all project drawings, incorporating changes from initiation to completion.
- Utilize ERP systems to build and maintain an accurate Bill of Materials to support drafting, procurement, and production processes.
- Track and expedite project information to meet schedules and budgets effectively.
- Handle multiple priorities with exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and urgency.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues to uphold established standards.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
The Skills & Experience
- Education: A two-year technical degree in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Manufacturing, Drafting, or Engineering is preferred.
- Experience: At least three years of engineering experience in design, manufacturing, cabinetry, or millwork; or five years of commercial manufacturing shop floor experience in furniture, cabinetry, or millwork.
- Hands-on experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and MS Office is a plus (training available).
- Familiarity with ERP software, such as Global Shop, is preferred (training available).
Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in shop, design, and architectural drawings, as well as bill of material structure.
- Strong understanding of materials, including wood, metal, glass, and lighting electrical.
- Working knowledge of AWI standards is a plus.
